Safari save as vs drag and drop, different file extension behavior, fix?

I have an annoying problem with Safari, if right click on an image and choose "Save as", the image is saved without showing the file extension in Finder - "imagename", but if i drag and drop the image to the folder instead, Finder will show the file extension - "imagename.jpg"

How can i get Safari (and Finder) to NOT show the file extension when using drag and drop?
