Safari Search bar not showing suggestions

I've had a desktop Mac for about two years. I also just purchased a 13 inch pro for college. Lately I noticed that on the search bar in safari, it no longer shows suggested searches. It shows my recent searches, but no longer displays common or popular searches. My default search is google, and it is happening both on my new pro and my desktop.

Did you upgrade Safari recently?

What version are you using? You have to supply some info.
