Safari: search text and URL

I keep having this annoying problem when searching in Safari: from time to time when searching a combination of words (usually two) from the address bar, Safari would replace spaces with % and gave a message saying that the page cannot be loaded, as if it confuses the phrase I'm searching with an URL. Can anyone help me with this?
