I've noticed that Safari, since upgrading to 10.9.4, when sitting idle in the Dock always Quits-closes-shuts down after several minutes of none use.
Is this by design or is it a flaw.

A re-install of the 10.9.4 combo updater seems to have corrected this issue.

A lot of apps do this. OS X has had self termination since Lion. I've noticed it happening with Safari, Calendar, and Preview if they sit idle for long enough.
