anyone knows how to:
-disable the autoopening of a sidebar after touching the left edge of the screen
-revert the changes to the bookmark list on a sidebar to simple list without huge icons for each bookmark?

Yeah just sent feedback on this… Bookmarks now acts like Favorites in Chrome. In the sidebar, it presents "recently saved", of which I can see one and a half (!), with a horizontal scroll. Clicking it makes them vertical (at least) but still in save order… which is what Reading List already did. You can search, but what if you save things so you don't need to remember exact details — that hotel you heard was good, for example? If you know enough to search you can just use the search bar in the main window so I don't see who this is for.

You can give up the window and mange them Chrome-style, but this is a weird and I think user-hostile design decision.

“-revert the changes to the bookmark list on a sidebar to simple list without huge icons for each bookmark?”

Click on the three dots in the upper right hand side in the sidebar and choose “compact”.

That's just an aesthetic change. It still lists bookmarks in the order they were added, ignoring any folder structure. (And it has a time limit: I'm guessing a year.) As I said, if I want that, we already had Reading List which literally does exactly the same thing.

yeah yeah, did that already, b1 did not have that setting
for now only the recently added is irritating and the fact that b3 has a broken view in full screen where top of the side bar is hidden beneath the white square of toolbar

it is weird bc it is adding new folders and sidebar is kinda different from the general bookmarks folder, but you can edit that in the edit bookmarks menu (create folders etc.) and if you turn off and turn on "show folders first" (probably a bug) in the sidebar three dot menu, you can change the order of the bookmarks as you like
overall I like the new sidebar and with a hidden top toolbar it makes sense just I miss the icons on the bottome to quickly switch between bookmarks and tabs

So I sort of figured it. There was I bug I think where "show folders on top" was selected, but needed to be deselected. But then Safari crashed… and it is working somewhat more as expected. It still isn't great: that looks like an arrow to open the folder as a list shows preview icons with a summary of the page; compact is better, but you can't manually sort.
