So I pushed to button in safari to open up the sidebar on my iPad air. Now it won't go away. I believe there is supposed to be a button by the back and forward buttons to make it go away but its gone... any suggestions on how to make it go away??

Any help would be appreciated!

Running ios8 latest beta

I'm sorry, I'm not helping but I just have a stupid question. I forgot about the sidebar in iOS 8 for the iPad. Does it replace the book icon in iOS 7 in the upper right? How do you access the side bar, is the book icon just located at the left now, which reveals the sidebar? This seems pretty cool. The tiny little window the book opens now feels pretty cumbersome to use and that seems quite a lot better.

Facing same issue

I'm also facing the same issue.
I restored via iCloud but the problem persists.
Any suggestions?

At this point I think you should either revert to iOS 7 where the sidebar doesn't even exist, i.e, no issue, or do a 100% clean restore of iOS 8 via iTunes. It seems like something might be corrupted in your iCloud backup if you restored and everything through that and the problem still persists.

What happens if you tap the Back button? That works on Yosemite after clicking the grid button and the sidebar won't go away when clicking the grid again.

Press the bookmarks icon a second time. That should clear it. You will notice the bookmarks icon is full blue rather than outlined when the bar is visible.

The problem is that the bookmark icon disappears leaving the sidebar open...

Problem fixed:
I quit all open applications and did a Reset All Settings.
After rebooting before applying any settings or joining a network I opened Safari and the Bookmark icon was back so I could close the sidebar. Finally.

I've just caught this bug after finally upgrading from 7 to 8. Seems like there's no fix yet?
