Safari slow, jerky scrolling

I have a 2011 MacBook Pro with OSX Lion. Safari scrolling is terribly choppy. I installed the Click To Flash extension, but haven't tried much else. I have searched and found some things to try, but most of the info was pretty old. Is there something obvious to do, or do I just go through all the suggestions one at a time? Thanks for any help.

At the very top of the site it says it's not supported on Safari 5.1.

I installed it to try to stop the jerky scrolling, but I will remove it. It is working to block flash videos though.

It seemed to work fine for me too. I did uninstall Click to Flash and installed Click to Plugin instead, and scrolling so far seems much smoother.
