My friend is running the latest version of Safari under OS X 10.3.7 on an ibook G3 900 Mhz. He says lately Safari has slowed way down, for no apparent reason. Has anyone had that happen? Is there a fix, besides throwing it out and reinstalling? Safari has never slowed down for me at all.

Slow down as in in the most recent updates Safari actually loads pages slower than before?

Well i personally switched to camino so I couldn't tell you for sure, but, i find it odd that it would get slower.

If the slowdown involves launching / quitting the app, there is a known issue (or at least there was, before I switched to Firefox :) ) about favicons...you should be able to find a thread here. Safari keeps a cache of them, and if this cache gets too big, it will cause poor load/quit times. You can manually clean it out or do a trick to disable favicons altogether (I personally don't care for them). I'll try to find that thread.

EDIT: The first thread explains the issue with favicons, and the second has a permanent solution (basically making the favicon folder read-only) in it.
