Safari tabs to work like FF tabs

I have several bookmarks with multiple links, I'll often click the "Open in Tabs" option. The complaint is that if I have any tabs open in that window they will get closed when opening the bookmarks. In Firefox it just adds more tabs to the existing window without closing the existing. I prefer using Safari on my mac (though I use FF on my pc), wondering if I'm missing an option somewhere to make this behave like FF.
