To get tabs on safari do I have to get a new updated version of safari or something cause on my new macbook there are no tabs yet on another friends of mine there is?

Safari->Preferences->Tabs->Enable tabbed browsing

I don't use Saft, and I have no desire to use Saft. The only Safari plug-in I use is Inquisitor (and I can barely live without it these days).
