Safari Tech Preview 48 not auto-filling in forms and passwords?

Just wondering if this is by design or if I inadvertently changed a setting?

I used to have user names and passwords automatically filled in when I browsed to a page, now it only shows the icon to click and then have the form filled-in. Why the change?

I am now using the Release 48 (Safari 11.2, WebKit 13606.1.2.2). The autofill is normal.

So, it doesn't looks like they intentionally remove that function. May be there is a bug, you better report to Apple.

Thanks...guess that explains it then. I just don't see what this accomplishes security wise though.

I mean now it still opens the page with focus on the username field and username shown to be clicked on to then be autofilled. At least it did for the few pages I tried. Password was never readable since it was shown as asterisks so what has been gained by this?

A ads or another third-party content on a webpage could stole your credentials before this change.
