Safari + Text Field = 100% CPU

I have a problem when using Safari. If I start typing in a text field on any site the CPU maxes out at 100%.

I've tried clearing browser cache/cookies, removed all plugins and I've disabled all extensions but the problem persists. It is a real pain as trying to fill out a web form slows my laptop to a crawl.

I'm using Safari 7 and OS X Mavericks.

Any ideas what could be causing it?
