Safari text field issue

Hi,

So my friend recently upgraded to 10.4.11 and Safari 3.1.1, on a MacBook. Ever since then, whenever he is in a text field in Safari, keys that do other things such as space and delete behave as though he's not in a text field. I'm usually his cure-all for his mac woes, but I'm stumped on this one. Deleting prefs, restarting, repairing permissions haven't done a thing.
