Safari - Text fill in Google Search Bar?

I can't seem to get Safari's google search area to auto fill with what it thinks I want to type. Firefox does this. Am I doing something wrong or does Safari not have this feature? Also while I'm at it, Safari has no "restore" feature if one loses power, etc?
