Friend has an iMac running OS X 10.6.8. Recently Safari has become completely unresponsive except for a couple of sites, try to go to a site and the blue bar just hangs there. I told him to reset Safari which he did but it didn't help. Is there anything else he can try to do?

Most likely he needs to update Safari but if he's on 10.6.8 he might not be able to do it. Try booting to Safe Mode and trying Safari to see if he's having the same problem.

He should install Firefox ... can't recommend Chrome since Google is discontinuing support for older versions of OS X in April this year. Safari in 10.6.8 is just getting worse and worse over time.
