I am running Safari 6.1.6 but now informed that some web sites do not support this and I should upgrade. However as my iMac is some years old and running OSX 10.7.5 I cannot use the Apple update function. Does this mean Safari is now not upgradeable on older Macs?

It appears Apple only gives updates for the last 3 releases....so Lion (and its Safari) fell off the update list after Yosemite (10.10) came out - in Mountain Lion Safari 6.x has continued to be updated....

If you can update to a newer version OS X, it would be a good idea with all of the security issues that have been uncovered in browsers and the web infrastructure over the last year or two.

If you have a old intel iMac that can't go past Lion, do some looking around people have figured out how to load through Mavericks on them (not sure about Yosemite).

I run Firefox on 10.6.8 because of Safari performance and security issues. It's not problem-free, but it's functional.
