I cannot seem to fix this, no matter what I try, after about 10 minutes browsing safari has grabbed above 10gb of ram and safari becomes unresponsive

I have tried disabling adblock (the only extension i use)
tried clearing caches and resetting safari

Its awful, grabbing ram at about 500mb every 30 seconds, its driving me insane

Running 10.8.2
saf 6.0.2

Retina pro 2.6 i7, 16gb ram

Anyone have any ideas?

Maybe try running the safari nightly build?

If that doesn't work it sort of sounds like you're SOL. I've had similar problems with safari but never to such an extreme extent. My real advice would be to stop using safari because it's pretty terrible, Chrome or Firefox would probably be a better choice although I've heard they aren't optimized for retina so that might not be any option.

You could also try downloading the osx 10.8.3 beta, that has an updated safari build. (Easy to get a link to the newest build 12d76 with a quick google search).

Worst case scenario maybe do a system restore?
