Since upgrading to Yosemite my Safari window keep resizing itself all the time. It happens whenever I open or close a new tab, changing its size without me doing anything. This doesn’t seem to happen with Chrome, who’s able to maintain a single size with one, two or without opened tabs. I tried adjusting the window multiple times and searched on Google but wasn’t unable to find a permanent solution.

It isn’t a huge problem, I’ll admit that, but it bothers me nonetheless. Can anyone share some tips to avoid this from happening any longer? Thanks in advance.

Sorry for replying to my own thread but I was –finally– able to find a sort of a ‘fix’ to this problem and I’d like to post it here in case anyone stumble upon this thread in the future.

You can work around this ‘resizing problem’ by permanently displaying the tab bar. This can be both abled and disabled through the ‘View’ panel on the Mac menu bar.

I occasionally have the same problem you describe, but have always had my tab bar displayed. So not sure if what you are proposing is a solution or not. I have seen other forums talk about this being a Yosemite bug that has yet to be addressed.

So far, with the tab bar displayed, the problem I described on my first post seemed to have disappear. But yes, I have also read somewhere that it’s a bug within Yosemite that have not been fixed yet.

This was never really fixed yet. I'm running Mojave and have the same problem. It will happen with any resizable window when you have the top bar to automatically hide. It will randomly resize your window to a size where the top bar would fit. It's really annoying.
