This has only been happening since updating to 15.5. Occasionally, when I try to close Safari by going to the top menu options and Safari > Quit Safari, the Safari window will freeze. No rainbow wheel, and I'll still be able to move the mouse, but the window will freeze - no scrolling, no minimising the window, no dragging the window around. I try shortcuts to close the window (Command + Q), the window is still frozen. I try clicking the Apple menu at the top to select Force Quit but again the window is frozen, the Apple menu doesn't open up. In the end I just have to hold down the power button to shutdown and start again.

This happens at least once every couple of days. I've done a fresh install of 15.5 and it still happens. No pattern to it - happens on any website.

Is this a known bug? Anyone else experienced similar?

I'm using a 15" M4 MacBook Air (512GB / 24GB)

I don't use Safari much, but once in a great while I've had similar behavior with other apps. Once every couple of days is a lot, though. That would be pretty frustrating.

Next time, try pressing Option-Command-Escape to get the Force Quit Applications window. From there, you might be able force Quit Safari. It could save you the reboot.
