Safari won't keep passwords

recently my iPad stopped keeping my passwords. As many of the sites I use require passwords this is annoying to the point I have started using my pc laptop. You know this is an act of desperation.
Facebook is an example. I had used it for years with no problem. Safari always remembered my password. I know it is a Safari problem because if I use the Facebook app it does not require a password. Can anyone provide an answer?

Do you have cookies blocked? That was the problem for me. None of my passwords were saved unless cookies were enabled.

No cookies set to always allow, as I said it is Safari specific, I even had to log into this site despite the check mark to remember this site. Time for a visit to my Apple Store.
