The other day I sold my old G3 ibook [dual boot] to a friend of mine - she did a reinstall of the OS X that came with the ibook and she told me it worked, but the one thing that did not appear was safari. The only browser that was available after the reinstall was IE 5. Other than telling her to go to safari [and firefox's] Web site and downloading the latest version of the browser there via IE, is there anything else I can tell her?

P.S. It has been a few years since I first turned on that ibook, so I thought that safari was kind of pre-loaded and was the default browser.

Have you tried pacifist. I never used it but it looks like it will work unless you want to do a reinstall
