When I open Safari the application opens, but does not load the home page or allow me to click on anything (I get the spinning circle) so I must force quit every time. Nothing works with it. I am on Firefox, but prefer Safari so any help would be appreciated

I tried that already but nothing changed.

Try removing the preferences: they are in your home directory
~/Library/Safari

Remove all of the Safari directory.

Remove also any file containing "Safari" as filename from
~/Library/Preferences/
~/Library/Caches/

move them to the trash, so that -in case something goes horribly wrong- you can restore them. Anyway, Safari is toasted.

You can also try beforehand to create a new account and start safari from there. If it works it is definitely something screwy with your preferences.

Didn't change anything unfortunately. I'll try another reinstall just in case i messed up the first.

try a PRAM reset

or try restarting modem if wireless .... I know you said you where on firefox however I would try anything at this point......

try this:

hey had the same exact problem a couple months ago, nothing seemed to work... take out your leopard/ tiger os cd, and reinstall safari... that was the only thing that worked, and haven't had any problems since
