Hi,

I'm on latest Mac OS and Safari, didn't change any settings lately, and suddenly now when I click on full screen option on YT, it opens video in new workspace, and it's much slower.

Any ideas what could be the reason?

Thanks

What exactly is "much slower"?

Yes, i found the same today, it changed just a day ago. Now there is this slide sideways animation showing when one changes YT video to fullscreen on Safari. I think MacOS Safari has always used the YT in fullscreen technically as a "space" for videos but now the sliding animation is seen. Very disorienting, actually makes me dizzy. Gotta be something YT has changed cause i havent done any system updates in that time. This behaviour changed even on MacOS Sonoma which i'm still on.

Love those changes for the worse.
Luckily it doesn’t make me dizzy 😏

I’ve noticed this too. Previously, when opening YouTube in fullscreen, it would open in a new workspace but without the slide animation. Now, it shows a slide animation to switch workspaces, and it feels slower than before, which is a bit annoying. This only happens with Safari, not with Chrome. Is there any way to fix this?

Noticed this as well a few days ago and thought "Huh, has it always been like this?". Can't say I prefer it, but it doesn't bother me that much, either. Still would like to know what caused it.

I believe it’s an animation change made by YouTube. I think it was rolled out gradually, as I’ve only experienced the change in the last day or so.
There haven’t been any macOS or Safari updates in that timeframe so I’m assuming the change was on YouTube’s side of things.
