Safe ambient temperature

I live on a boat and my new iMac is currently situated in the main bed cabin. Not ideal, and I would like to move it into the main salon. Only place I can site it is approx 6 foot away from a log burner, which when lit, throws out a tremendous heat. I am concerned that such close proximity to such heat may adversely affect the performance, or worse.
Anybody any knowledge of heat affects?
