I installed Prey, a anti-theft software, and they give the advice to install an open firmware password. THis also works on intel mac's (with efi).
Open firmware password blocks you from using the boot commands (like option+command+p+r to reset PRAM etc).
It also blocks booting in Safe Boot (using the shift-key while booting). I need this function to make decent bootable backups on an external disk, though.
Is there a way to boot in Safe Boot, while keeping the Open Firmware Password? So, can I temporarily override the Firmware Password?
I'm using Snow Leopard 10.6.3 on a macbook pro latest gen sept 2009.
Thx in advance
