where is a safe spot to download mac the ripper? i tried their main site but every download mirror is down. any suggestions?

Just be sure you realize that the one you downloaded was
Ver. 2.66 which has not been supported by the developer for quite some time and fails to work for many modern movies.
To check out how to obtain the current 3.014m, go to www.ripdifferent.com and join the official Mac the Ripper forum, then READ the sticky notes to see how to get it as it is the only currently supported version. You will find that the current version handles many titles that won't work with yours.
