There are times when I want my Mac to be extra secure from malware. In addition to other measures that I take, would booting in Safe Mode add security? Am running Sonoma with Intel CPU and no M4 chip.

would booting in Safe Mode add security?
No. Safe Mode just disables starting up some background tasks and loading 3rd-part kernel extensions. Only use if you think your Mac is behaving strangely due to some software you have installed or some types of malware you have installed. I have needed Safe Mode once in 15 years. Safe Mode is definitely not for normal use - only for diagnosing and repairing misconfiguration.

Thanks for your advice. My idea was to use Safe Mode just in case there is some malware that macOS did not catch. Based on the advice, I don't plan to do that.
