Downgraded successfully from sanoma to Ventura. Checked safe mode and worked with clean reinstall.

After migration using time machine (which worked perfectly) safe mode has this odd flashing at log in and can’t login that way. Booting normally works fine and no problems with the Mac. Just interested what could cause this? Can it be user files? Thanks

Ok. Fixed this. I had a hunch. I new safe mode does not use accelerated graphics. Of the three users who use the Mac, their profile pics are animated emojis. That seemed to impact the log in screen. Changed them to standard pics and log in screen stable and I can log in. I guess this is a bug or intentional ?….

thanks

Intentional, stuff is disabled in Safe mode to help you diagnose problems.

Maybe it's a consequence of downgrading...
Nope. It did that prior to downgrading to while in sonoma. Obviously graphic demand on animated emoji causes the issue under unaccelerated graphics.

Bravo!
how? was this a fresh reinstall or from Time Machine?

I tried going from Sonoma to Monterey on a new refurb Mac mini 2020 in November to no avail.
this was a thumb drive reboot then an via Apple Store download process.

Test and see?

Fresh install via usb boot with Ventura. Then used migration assistant with Time Machine backup.

thanks, every week I skip trying to reboot to Monterey
is a another week closer the OS is obsolete and unsupported by apple.

maybe is should try that on Monterey OS on the MacBook since the Mini thrives on Sonoma.

somehow I dont have a Monterey back up on my MBAM1
or I can't find that, I switched to using MNVe blades this year
and maybe forgot to save Monterey.
no big loss tho, thanks!
