Safe nano to micro sim adapter?

So, what I've done is made a homemade adapter cutting out the nano sim outline into a standard sim card. I realized that the thinness of the nano causes it not to be flush with the standard sim card. Didn't think it would be a problem but when I tried to remove it from my 3GS to put into my ip5 it catches on the pins inside and I'm afraid to bend the pins in the 3GS. I'm wondering if anyone has come across this and what options you guys may have. Thx all.
