Hi guys,

I just want to know if it is safe to remove the xcode installer after installation?

I deleted mine. But I can download it again in just under 30 mins, if I need to.

If you've got the hard disk space somewhere, you might want to keep around just in case your install breaks and you need to reinstall it. I'm just thinking purely theoretically and defensively. I have not advise or experience that this will be at all a likely scenario.

If you delete the installer and just keep the Xcode program, will the App Store think that I didn't download and install it? How are you supposed to get notifications for updates? It seems pointless to keep a 4GB install file in Launchpad.

After I delete the installer, App Store no longer registers XCode as being installed. So I guess I wouldn't get any notification of an update.

I decided to just throw it in the Developer folder so it doesn't look out of place in Launchpad. :)
