I hear things about people being able to retrieve your old info even if you restore to new. I have an iPhone 5 and I already restored to new and have it unlocked. I'm getting ready to sell it. I would be somewhat concerned if my pics and text messages could be retrieved. Or is it more banking/Paypal type apps I should be concerned with?

From what I understand the information on the iPhone is encrypted. When you do a factory restore the keys are wiped but the encrypted information is simply overwritten. Without the keys, the encrypted information is useless even if it were recovered.

Can someone confirm this or provide the correct information if mine is in error?

EDIT: it appears that the information I provided is correct as it applies to the iPhone 3GS and later, Source: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201274
