I'm on vacation and I lost my ac adapter to my cable. Am I safe to charge it through USB and my laptop (non Mac) all week until I can get a charger from home?

Idk if I wanna trust a 3rd party one from walmart

as long as you don't let it sync on iTunes yeah nothing will go wrong. Best way to make sure nothing syncs is by charging the phone while the pc is on the login screen.

Why not let it sync?

you should be fine and there is nothing wrong with syncing with itunes.

I always charge my iPhone via USB on my MBP and had no issues so far. I have set mine to not open itunes when I plug it in. You can turn that setting off if you don't feel the need to sync itunes everytime you plug it in.

Sorry i got the impression that that wasn't the normal syncing PC, and that the phone might try and sync someone else's stuff.

If its the normal pc that you use then yeah why not? surely you've plugged it in before? why so cautious. the power output will just charge the phone as normal.

Well I started getting worried when i saw it was taking 2 mins + per percent.

Idk if a trickle charge would hurt the battery.

USB charging is slower than using a wall outlet, but there is no harm in using either.

It is perfectly safe to charge an iPhone through USB power.

However, to condition the battery, it is a good practice to charge the iPhone using the power adapter up to 6 hours after it shuts down by itself with the exhaustion of the battery.
