Safely remove camera

My daughter has her own account on my MacMini (Snow Leopard), and last night she connected her camera via USB. I came in half way through this episode, so I don't know what she saw when she connected the camera, but iPhoto did not see it, so this is where I came in and I suggested trying Image Capture. She got everything downloaded and had no problems, but when she went to safely remove the camera, she could find no option to do so anywhere. Anyone else seen this?
