Does anyone know if the jailbreak/unlock community has found an easy, safe way to unlock an iPhone 3G? I tried unlocking one back in April (after jailbreaking it first) and it bricked the phone. I was using redsnow.

Has anyone successfully unlocked an iPhone #G running iOS 4.2.1? If so, what did you use to unlock it?

Thanks!

You will have to install the ipad bb to unlock it.

Thanks for the reply. And you'll have to forgive me, but I'm totally new to this. Is there any place you can point me to that has a step-by-step instruction list for everything I need to do to unlock the iPhone 3G?

Yes, go to the link posted above.
But installing the ipad bb is not technically the "safest" way to unlock but it might be the only way. So up to you if you're up for it.

Thanks for the links and info everyone. I'm not sure if I'll do this yet. I'm going to buy a 4S soon and only want to unlock my 3G because I heard you can get more resale value for it if it's not carrier locked.

Then again, I'm sure a carrier locked iPhone is more valuable than a bricked iPhone....

yes you can

you can with a gevey ultra card just insert the gevey card in your iphone follow the instructions and you ar on ! i unlock my iphone 4 4.2.1 baseband 3.10.01 but i dont know if works with the 3g

I am not familiar with the iPhone #G.

Safest way to unlock is to have your carrier unlocked, if you are in the US your options are a bit limited on that aspet, all other option have some level or risk to it

how to Revirginize 3G with iPad baseband

Does anyone know if it is possible to revirginize a 3g that is unlocked with an iPad baseband? Thanks in advance for any information.

I guess I have a brick then

Thanks for confirming relocking not possible. That's what I thought. I guess I have a brick. I just got a 4GS and was thinking of relocking and passing on the 3g.

Relocking is possible, you just need to remove ultrasn0w and it will be locked...

you asked for "revirginize"...that is not possible.
