As we speak my brother is in an apple store in houston, says he went in, asked if they had the iphone in stock, it is, but sales rep and manager says they will only sell it if he provides an att number... Why is this?

This is so frustrating :(

My brother is paying full price, dosent have a contract nor a number with att, why cant apple just sell the device only?

It is a store-to-store experience. Or even a rep-to-rep experience. I have to talked to 2 different sales reps with 2 different responses and it even changes everyday. The store is in Phoenix.

----------

I bought one at Fry's Electronics. Have your brother try at other retailers like Best Buy, Radioshack, or Target. It's $50 more but I preferred it than waiting and going through the confusion.

Thanks for the response, :( will have to wait in order to get my iphone.. been doing some fast research on this topic and it does seem to depend on the sales rep or manager or maybe even the store policy
