I intend visiting Canada shortly and will purchase a Macbook there. Does anyone know if the prices quoted on the Canadian Apple Store include sales taxes and if not what are the rates?

The prices online do not include sales-tax (at least it didn't in August when I ordered from it). There is a 5% Goods & Services Tax (GST) assessed by the federal government, and then a provincial sales tax (PST), which varies depending on province (some charge a harmonized sales tax, which is the GST and PST combined.)

Some provinces will reimburse the PST if you prove that you paid tax in your home province, so it may apply if you pay the tax in your home state - but you will have to pay the full price (GST + PST/HST) when you purchase the product.

Cheers!

hey,

if you live in israel, i would highly suggest buying the computer from a local reseller or in the states. i was in israel in december and the prices are much better for stuff there than in canada and tax is less. your best bet, if coming to canada is to pop over the border to the US where you can easily save a few hundred bucks!!

Unfortunately, it does not include sales tax. It also depends on where you plan on visiting in Canada. To be honest, your best bet would be to buy it from U.S.A if you are near the border.
