the external is cheaper so if i could merely yank the drive out for my pc, that would be great...and keep the enclosure

Specs seem to be the same - and I'm not aware of Seagate (or anybody else, for that matter) making a different 1.5 Tb drive. My guess is they're the same.

i did see the warranty differs

is it pretty easy to remove the drive from the case?
