I did a search here and didn't see this topic covered.

I have MacBook Pro and VMware Fusion running an instance of Windows XP. Both have iTunes 7.5 installed. Both are using the same iTunes store account for authorization.

I was under the impression that iTunes had to be at the same version for all installed copies using the same iTunes store account.

Is this correct or can I have iTunes 7.6 installed on my MacBook Pro and leave iTunes 7.5 installed under my Windows XP without having to upgrade it to the same version (7.6)?

Why would you want to keep iTunes 7.5? iTunes 7.6 is better for windows.

To answer your question it should be fine.

Part of it is I don't need the features or functions of iTunes 7.6 under my Windows XP virtual machine. Just the music.

Thanks for the confirmation.

Don't take my word for it wait for others to reply before you anything as i could be wrong (I'm only human:))

I was planning on waiting for other replies. I'm in no hurry. Just have some features I would like to use on my Mac with iTunes 7.6, but don't care to add to or disrupt iTunes 7.5 under Windows.

I am running iTunes 7.0.2.16 on my XP machine (Dell) at work, and iTunes 7.5 running on my MacBook Pro at home.

Both use the same iTunes store account. No problems.

Just wanted to report back that I did the upgrade of iTunes 7.6 on my MacBook Pro, while leaving iTunes 7.5 under my Fusion WinXP without any issues.

Thanks to all who provided input on this.
