The April 2010 statement, is for OEM's, not retail. Retail availability will follow, and could be as far off as 13 wks from the OEM date, which is sometime in July.

The exact drive model number, is HM640JJ. If you search that, there's review and the manufacturer's page, but no e-tailers listed.

Just wait it out, and keep searching. It will eventually be available in retail channels.

Here are are in August, and still no hints of availability. Samsung has announced a 1TB 5400RPM drive too -- wonder if we'll see it anytime soon.

Hey, I guess they just came out with it to consumer the beginning of August. The only place I can see to find it is Newegg

I might get one just becuase of the capacity and I think Apple uses Samsung HD for MacBook Pros.:D:D:D:D:D

Good luck dealing with Newegg. I've been burned every time I've tried.

With everything I've read about freezes, clicking, and high load counts on disks not supplied by Apple, I've mostly given up on the idea of replacing the stock disk in my MBP - not worth the FUD. Maybe I'll get the company to score me a sweet-ass SSD instead. Indeed, my manager is going to order us up a few. I'd come across the Corsair V128 as a worthy laptop replacement unit, but we'll probably get Intel units now at twice the cost.
