SAMSUNG 40A550 - iMac 4.1 2006 - Trying to connect to my TV

I'm trying to connect my iMac to my Samsung TV with a VGA cord . Simply to minimize having a computer desk in my little apartment. My tv is saying " mode not supported " I was then on the Samsung website and it says that you cannont connect iMacs to Samsungs? But clearly on here you can. Can someone help me?

The TV also has an HDMI input, try a miniDVI-to-HDMI adapter:

Composite might be too low to use for such a TV.

Have you taken a look at System Preferences > Displays and have you also chosen the right channel on the TV?
