Samsung 830 Series SSD

Hi all,

I have a Early 2011 MacBook Pro and I just installed a new Samsung SSD, do I need to enable TRIM if using Mountain Lion? If so, where would I find the software or command?

You can choose to enable it or you can leave it be. A lot of people have reported that there are no issues with TRIM on this drive.

I use a Samsung 830 as well. I installed it a week ago, and I have been running without TRIM thus far. I plan to enable it tomorrow to see what difference (if any) it makes. The reason I waited a week to enable it is because I wanted to have a basis of comparison, so that I could tell if it was operating better or worse with TRIM enabled.

If you experience issues with it, you can always disable it.

I've been doing a lot of research on SSD's and TRIM and someone on a MR thread posted this link

A fantastic guide if you feel like enabling TRIM the old fashion way running commands in Terminal
Works for both Lion and Mountain Lion.

This method might also be safer because you can easily verify if TRIM is enabled or not and you can easily disable it too.

Another Samsung 830 user here.
Used Trim Enabler to enable trim about a week ago - no issues whatsoever and its working fine.

Have the itch to upgrade my drive to the 512GB version now........
