Hi,

I have a Macbook Pro 13" Early 2011 with a Samsung 830 SSD boot drive on the main hard drive slot(6 gigabit link speed, 6 gigabit negotiated link speed - Sata III)

I have an OWC SSD 115gb on a Data Doubler that replaced the DVD player. It had 6 gigabit link speed and 3 gigabit/s negotiated link speed (Sata II)

I want to buy a Samsung 840 750 gb EVO to be used as the data drive for final cut pro X.

Will the Samsung 840 be too fast for the 3 gigabit/ps Data Doubler slot? Should I put it in the 6gigabit-6gigabit slot to maximize data thoroughput?

I want to keep the Samsung on the primary slot if the 3gbps slot can handle the maximum amount of data the 840 is pumping out.

Please let me know.

Thanks.

You should put the 840 Evo in the 6Gbps slot and put the 830 in the 3Gbps slot.

Other than the argument of which drive is the fastest for your primary drive (on the 6Gbps line), the 840 Evo will be fine on either and adapt accordingly. Their controller and drives seem to have less trouble negotiating a link on slower connections...
