I have a 1TB EVO SSD which is incredibly slow after two months. I have this in an external USB 3.0 enclosure and finding it impossible to update the new firmware. Has the OSX version been released or is there someone in the UK willing to help me at a cost? I'm so frustrated with the Samsung issue and although I have a Crucial SSD, I really would like to benefit from my investment?

The firmware update application supports only Samsung SSDs connected via SATA.

Samsung published an installation guide under

General Limitations

1) The Performance RestorationDOS software is designed specifically for Samsung
SSD 840 EVO Series. The Performance Restoration functionis not supported for
non-Samsung SSD 840 EVO Series SSD.
2) The Samsung Performance RestorationDOS software does not work with SSDs
connected via the SCSI controller interface and USB to SATA interface.

3) The Performance Restoration DOS software will not work on SSDs that are locked
with a user password.
4) The RAID on mode in SATA configuration is not supported by the Samsung
Performance Restoration DOS software.
5) The Securitymode (Class 0, TCG/Opal or Encrypted Drive) must be disabled
(unlocked) before removing and installing onto another PC.
6) The Performance RestorationDOS software may not work consistently on PC's
with some chipset.

You should read the manual which comes with the software. It is easy!

Yeah plug it in to your Mac and update it. May I ask which USB 3.0 enclosure? I have a Mobius 5-bay and it has auto eject issues.

Will it work via a Thunderbolt connection?

Yes, it works over Thunderbolt. Another tip: it is a lot easier to run the updates using the Magician software in BootCamp Windows than dealing with the Samsung boot discs.

The fault for this hassle lies with Apple, not Samsung, for keeping their AHCI driver private.

Anyone get together a usable USB thumbdrive to use to boot a riMac? I have not had any success with any I've tried.
