So last Thursday I sold my iPhone 5 just in time to get the cash to order the 5S. Quite honestly, I hadn't planned on upgrading until I heard about the TouchID and being that I'm in the IT/Security dept. for my company (and historically avoided using pass codes on the phone because it was so annoying; yes, I know...horrible), I jumped all over the chance to upgrade.
Before I continue, I'll be quite honest and state how obviously first world a problem this is so bear with my white whines...
I knew that I wasn't going to get my 5S on launch day cause I had no plans to camp out at the store and was aware online shipping times were lengthy (note: Canadian shipping has slipped a couple of days to earliest 10 Oct) so I pulled a spare Galaxy S2 to use in the meantime.
I try to be subjective but after using it for 5 days (including a painful attempt to upgrade from 2.3 to 4.0), I can't say that I like it. It's not dreadful, but I don't find it as intuitive and easy to use. I always hear complaints of how iOS lacks features and customization and yada yada yada, but aside from lacking widgets (which aren't very good in quality and lacking in real Canadian content), I see very little advantage over iOS. It does all the usual things you would expect a smartphone to do, which is important. Just makes me wonder about these ridiculous fandroid arguments.
I will give the Galaxy one thing; I like the larger screen and when I picked up the 5S at the store the other day, I already felt like it was too small. So much so that I think I need to dump the Galaxy for the Ace so that when I get the 5S, it'll feel like an upgrade screen-wise.
I'm really really hoping the rumours are true and the 6 will sport a 4.5" screen. I know that it's insane to already be clamouring for the next iPhone when I haven't even gotten the 5S but I really want it to be true and can't wait.
Sorry for the lengthy diatribe but just thought I would Share.
