When attempting to print from Acrobat on Mac OS 10.6 to a Samsung CLP 310, all lights and control panel are OK, then green light on printer flashes, then .... nothing happens. Updated printer driver without result. Printer dialog box shows partial print, so seems to have stalled, but usually that's all that happens.

Sometimes (after rebooting both Mac and printer) it will print. the green light always flashes.

Questions:
  • Is the problem limited to Acrobat or is it general to all applications?
  • How is the printer connected to your computer?
  • The CLP-310 is a family of Samsung color laser printers. However, I cannot find a printer with the specific model number "CLP-310." What is the specific model number of your printer?
  • Some models are sold only in certain countries. In which country are you located?
Upon further investigation, I have determined that the Samsung CLP-310 is a cheap color laser printer. It appears to be a poor choice for users not running Windows. The Linux Foundation's OpenPrinting Project has managed to get a CUPS driver to "mostly" work.

Samsung printer

I hooked it up to an older Mac running OS 10.4, and it seems to work fine printing from Acrobat 9.2.
Would still like a fix- it really should work the same across platforms.

I've got a Samsung CLP-315W and have had a host of issues with it. I sent it back once because it quit printing; then they sent it back to me in worse shape, had a technician come out twice to fix to no avail; just received a new replacement this week.

None of the problems I had were tied directly to an application, and apparently the problem wasn't a Mac issue either. I suppose that leaves the lemon option on the table. From what I have read in other reviews, I am not the only one that has had these problems.

The manufacturer's driver for MacOS X 10.4 is not expected to work with MacOS X 10.6. For most USB printers, the manufacturer must specifically support MacOS 10.6. A CUPS driver, however, can be expected to work for one version of the OS if it works with the other.

same problem

I have nearly exactly the same problem with my Samsung CLP-310 laser. It will print after it has been restarted BUT will not print numerous jobs (constantly needing a reboot).

It is as though the internal memory??? is full and it needs to be rebooted to clear it.

Has anyone any ideas on how to fix this issue? Is it a Mac or Samsung problem. Other than that, the printing is good.

The Samsung printer didn't work in 2010, and chances are that it won't in 2013 either.

Get a Brother HL-3170CDW instead - supports not only OS X, but also AirPrint on iOS, duplex-printing and it's wireless. It was released last month and it's still $90 off for the introduction.
