samsung hdd, can i use es-tool on a boot disk?

I want to do a disk check with samsung's own disk tool as i'm having some issues and i want to check the drive for errors. will their tool work on a mac pro? i've tried in the past and the keyboard and mouse don't work so I can't get anything to work. any advice? is there another way to check without putting it in a pc?
