I recently switched form Chrome to Samsung Internet and exported all of my passwords and such to Samsung pass.
Now I have a problem. I don't know how to make Samsung Pass create a password like I could with Chrome. So it is possible to do this? I can't find a way by googling.
If that isn't possible is there a way to use Google password manager with Samsung Internet? I don't think this can be done but I could be wrong.
If neither of these routes work is there another option?

This is exactly why I use and recommend to others to grab a third party, cross platform password management option, like 1Password or Bitwarden. Can switch browser or even mobile platforms without have to deal with password/passkey migration everytime.

It was a total pain moving my passwords to Google from Apple so I do see the benefits of a cross platform password manager. Do you know if either of the two you mentioned work with Samsung's browser?

I use 1Password on all my devices and it works with all browsers I've tried, including Samsung's browser (what I use on my Pixel 9 Pro Fold). It actually integrates with the entire OS so I can use it any app as well. It's not free though. I pay for that family plan so all 5 of us can use it and share passwords easily if needed. I use it for more than just passwords though--copies of important records, IDs, passports, credit cards, wifi credentials, etc. Having everything in one place no matter what device or software I use is worth it.

I will check it out, thanks.

Also Samsung only exports password data to their own proprietary format. And I don't think there's any way to retrieve two factor setup codes or any passkeys later and move them to another password manager. So many potential pain points, I'd avoid the Samsung PWM like the plague.

At this point I'm probably going to switch back to chrome and Google password manager. I love the Samsung browser but for passwords it's a pain.

I would recommend Bitwarden over the google one as it's encryption is more secure, and cross platform in case you ever switch to an iPhone
This is the route I think I'm going to go. I looked into exporting passwords from Samsung this morning and it's a no go but most of them are still in Google so that will make it an easy move.

Are these safe? I have an idiotic notion that multi-billion dollar companies are more trustworthy when it comes to security than a smaller company. This is probably why I tend to be hesitant in using them besides having to pay when it's currently free on iOS/OneUI.

In my last job we were explicitly banned from using chrome's password manager as the encryption wasn't strong enough apparantly. I have an ipad and a pixel and galaxy so I use bitwarden. It's free and has 2fa to log into new devices.

These company’s business it predominantly these products so their success is paramount. For Google and Apple, it’s just another service in their portfolio and probably one’s that get far less attention than most other aspects of their business. 1Password is so much more capable than what Apple and Google offer and as mentioned, gives me access to my info EVERYWHERE, regardless of platform. It means I can live in Apple/Google/Microsoft ecosystems without compromising my password managment. So for me personally, it’s worth the cost.

Nothing is completely safe (look up what happened to LastPass) but I’ve been using 1Password for at least 7 years without incident.
