Hi!

I've been using a Samsung M7 monitor as display for my MacBook Air M1. Out of the box the two would only talk to each other thru HDMI. This is not optimal since the MBA doesnt have an HDMI port. I like my desk tidy so thru HDMI means an extra adapter. I found a workaround by lowering the resolution setting with an app called SwitchMyResX. I don't remember how I did it, but it looked like a permanent solution. Now after upgrading to Ventura, the MacBook ignores the M7 display again (when I try to connect thru the USB C port).
Does anyone of my MacRumors friends have a solution?

Thanks in advance and best wishes!

I'm assuming you've already tried rebooting the MBA? According to the first person who replied to this thread, they had to do that occasionally:

If not, then I'd contact Apple and/or Samsung. You may just have to resign to using the USB-C to HDMI adapter again. Surely it's a fairly small adapter, no?
Thanks for the reply!

The adapter + HDMI port isn't really a solution since the HDMI doesnt transmit sound... The only option to get the sound to the monitor is through the USB C port.

That's interesting, since HDMI can transmit both video and audio. I guess it's probably the adapter itself that's not supporting that. Which adapter are you using (a link would be great, if possible)?

Samsung states on there website the USBC it comes with no longer works and must use a thunderbolt cable.
