I had a Lacie external drive that wasn't used that much, so I decided to open it up and maybe use the 500gb Samsung HM500LI drive in Macbook Pro. Added storage is always a plus, but how about noise/heat and (more importantly) battery drain?

Any first hand experiences with this Samsung drive in a Macbook (Pro) ? (unibody).

I have been using mine since December and find it to be very good. It is quiet and runs cool hottest I have ever had it is 49 degrees out in Kenya for 6 weeks I was out there.

Any less good battery life? Reports on the net seem to report that this drive sucks quite abit of battery life.

I still get approx 4 hours out of my macbook pro, using the web, downloading, itunes and some web designing. My 17" gives me 6-7 hours top using the same drive.

And how does it compare performance wise to the stock drives Apple puts in the MBP? (250gb in my case).
