I have bought a Samsung ML-1630 printer for an old Mac (cube) and I just can't make it work :(

- Printer and cable are ok: it works perfectly when hooked to my new iMac running 10.5

- Printer is properly detected by the old Mac: when I go to printer/fax, the printer shows up

- When try to print: no error message but nothing happens on the printer

- I downloaded the most recent stuff from Samsung. Install package runs fine, but it doesn't change anything

- I launched the "smartpanel" app: an icon appears in the top bar, but it doesn't seem to do anything

- I browsed forums and saw a suggestion to use CUPS drivers: I downloaded and installed SPLIX, but to no avail

It feels like I am missing something very basic; for instance, I don't know what driver to pick in the configuration panel (obviously, the ML-1630 doesn't show in any list).

Any help most welcome
